Rapala said the village includes an ice bar, curling sheet, warming house and an icehouse studio stocked with live perch, Northern pike, trout and panfish. Among those who will participate in the rooftop ice fishing will be celebrities, pro athletes and notable media personalities. Anglers will use Rapala lures, such as the Rapala Jigging Rap or Flat Jig, as well as live bait to catch fish from the cozy fishing cabin.
A giant, novelty Rapala lure also will be signed by celebrities and athletes and auctioned off to benefit ACES, and patrons will be able to check out the StrikeMaster ice auger and novelty ice rod famously used in the 1993 comedy film “Grumpy Old Men.”
The Super Bowl will air starting at 5:30 p.m. Topeka time Sunday on KSNT (27.1). It also will be available for free viewing online through NBC.com and NBCSports.com and through the NBC Sports app on streaming devices.
“Rapala is proud to call the Land of 10,000 Lakes home, and we’re thrilled to add to the excitement of the Big Game coming to Minnesota with this unique ice-fishing experience,” Matt Jensen, director of marketing at Rapala USA, said in a news release. “We’re hopeful funds raised through the MinneCentric Rooftop Experience will make a big impact on ACES’ cause and on the lives of youth throughout the Twin Cities. It’s a great opportunity to show visiting fans what ‘Minnesota Nice’ is all about.”
The partnership also will offer fans nationwide the chance to win brand new ice-fishing gear through the Rapala Sweepstakes. The grand-prize winner will receive a StrikeMaster Honda 35cc LITE 8-inch auger, a MarCum M1 Lithium Shuttle Combo, a Polaris Generator P1000i, a Rapala Lithium ION Cordless Fillet Knife combo, Rapala apparel and a $500 Rapala VIP Merchandise credit card redeemable at Rapala.com. For those who won’t be in attendance Sunday in Minneapolis — which I’m guessing is most of the people reading this — patrons can donate to the Fishing For ACES fundraiser by calling 1 (800) 542-9226 or at https://aces4kids.kindful.com/?campaign=283290. They also can text GIVE to 1 (612) 324-0670.
