Many annual licenses and permits also will become valid for 365 days from the date of purchase, rather than expiring on Dec. 31 each year. License buyers will have the option of receiving email reminders before their licenses expire, or can enroll in the auto-renew option if they don’t want to worry about remembering when to renew.
In addition to these new features, annual and 14-day camp permits and most other annual licenses for 2018 will be available on Dec. 15, while the campsite and cabin reservation system will go live Dec. 18.
While the new features are being implemented, however, licenses purchased between Dec. 15-31 of this year will not be valid until Jan. 1, 2018. In prior years, licenses purchased on or after Dec. 15 were valid through the rest of December and all of the following year, so if you’re wanting to hunt or fish in the final few weeks of the year but haven’t bought a license yet, now would be the time.
