In addition to crappie fishing, Connor Brees also fishes competitively in the Kansas high school bass fishing scene, teaming up with fellow Topekan Parker Still. Still also fishes on the KCC tournament trail.
In total, the KCC raised $505 in cash and gift card donations for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Kansas, enough to pay for 20 overnight stays for families with sick children at the hospital.
“Every little bit helps to support a great charity and spread the love of fishing,” Springer said in a post on the event’s Facebook page.
The club’s next tournament will be the second annual KCC Veterans Day Tournament. The two-day tournament will take place Nov. 10-11 at Clinton Reservoir in Lawrence.
Takeoff is at 6:30 a.m. and weigh-in at 2:30 p.m. from the marina ramp. The entry fee is $250 per boat with the Big Fish entry included. Entry fees will go toward purchasing free fishing licenses for disabled Kansas combat veterans.
